द्वार के हिंदी अर्थ
संज्ञा, पुल्लिंग
- उक्त स्थान या अवकाश को आवश्यकतानुसार बंद करने के लिए उसमें लगाये जानेवाले लकड़ी, लोहे आदि के पल्ले। मुहा०-द्वार लगना दरवाजा बंद होना। (किसी बात के लिए) द्वार लगना-दूसरों की बातें चुपके से या छिपकर सुनने के लिए दरवाजों की आड़ में छिपकर खड़े होना। द्वार लगाना = किवाड़ या दरवाजा बंद करना।
- किसी घेरे, चहार दीवारी, दीवार आदि में आवागमन के लिए बना हुआ कोई खुला विशे षतः मुख्य स्थान जिसमें प्रायः खोलने और बंद करने के लिए दरवाजे, पल्ले आदि लगे होते हैं। मुहा०-द्वार द्वार फिरना = (क) कार्य-सिद्धि के लिए अनेक प्रकार के लोगों के यहां पहुंचकर अनुनय करना। (ख) भीख मांगना। (किसी का आकर) द्वार लगना = किसी उद्देश्य या कार्य के लिए दरवाजे पर आकर पहुँचना। जैसे-संध्या को बरात द्वार लगेगी। (किसी के द्वार लगना = किसी उद्देश्य या कार्य की सिद्धि के लिए किसी के दरवाजे पर (या किसी के यहाँ) जाकर बैठना। उदा०-यह जान्यो जिय राधिका द्वारे हरि लागे। सूर।
