برآمدہ کا لفظ تو آپ نے سنا ہی ہوگا ؟ یہ پرتگالی زبان کا لفظ ہے۔ ہندی اردو میں یہ لفظ 18 ویں صدی کے آغاز میں شامل ہو چکا تھا۔ پرتگالی میں اسے Veranda لکھتے اور بولتے تھے۔ اس کے بعد اس کا استعمال یوکے انگلش میں ہونے لگا۔ lexico oxford اور Douglas R. Harper کے مطابق یہ لفظ فرنچ میں یوکے انگلش کے بعد آیا ۔ یو کے انگلش میں اس کا املا ‘Veranda’ اور ‘Verandah’ ہے۔ فارسی زبان کا لفظ یار بھی اب آکسفورڈ ڈکشنری میں شامل ہو چکا ہے۔ یو کے انگلش میں اس کا استعمال پہلی بار 1963 میں دیکھا گیا تھا۔
