'बरामदा' (porch) लफ़्ज़ तो आपने सुना ही होगा? ये लफ़्ज़ पुर्तगाली ज़बान का लफ़्ज़ है। हिन्दी/उर्दू में ये लफ़्ज़ 18 वीं सदी के आरंभ में शामिल हो चुका था। पुर्तगाली में इसे Veranda लिखते और बोलते हैं। उसके बा'द इसका इस्ते'माल UK English में होने लगा। lexico oxford और Douglas R. Harper (an American lexicographer and author of the Online Etymology Dictionary) के मुताबिक़ ये लफ़्ज़ French में UK English के बा'द गया। UK English में इसकी spelling ‘Veranda’ और ‘Verandah’ है। फ़ारसी ज़बान का लफ़्ज़ 'यार' (या'नी दोस्त (भी फ़ारसी का है) अर्थात 'मित्र') भी अब Oxford dictionary में शामिल हो चुका है। UK English में इसका इस्ते'माल पहली बार 1963 में देखा गया था।
