بطخ اول دوم مفتوح، دوم کبھی کبھی مشدد بھی سنائی دیتا ہے۔ یہ لفظ بہت دلچسپ ہے۔ فارسی’’بت‘‘ کے عربی’’بط‘‘ بنا، پھر فارسی والوں نے اس پراپنا کاف تصغیرلگا کر’’بطک‘‘ بنایا، لیکن حرف دوم پرتشدید نہیں لگائی۔اردو والوں نے اسے یوں ہی قبول کیا اور تشدید بھی لگالی۔ پھر کسی کو خیال آیا کہ ’’بطک‘‘ تو گنوارو معلوم ہوتا ہے، دراصل’’بطخ‘‘ ہوگا (ایسی مثالیں اور بھی ہیں)۔ اس طرح موجودہ لفظ حاصل ہوا۔ یہ لفظ ہمیشہ مؤنث بولا جاتا ہے۔ اس کا مذکر کچھ نہیں۔ دیکھئے، ’’تذکیر سےعاری نام، جانوروں کے‘‘۔
