صاحب زادہ یہ فقرہ صرف دوسروں کے بیٹے کے لئے تعظیماً یا تکلفاً بولا جاتا ہے۔ بعض لوگ اسے اپنے بیٹے کے لئے بھی استعمال کرتے ہیں۔ یہ نہایت قبیح ہے۔ غلط اور قبیح: میرے صاحب زاد ے ان دنوں یہاں نہیں ہیں۔ صحیح: میرا بیٹا/لڑکا ۔۔۔ صحیح: کیایہ آپ کے صاحب زادے ہیں؟ اردو میں ’’صاحب زادہ‘‘ کا مؤنث ’’صاحب زادی‘‘ مستعمل ہے۔ لیکن ملحوظ رہے کہ فارسی میں نہ ’’شہزادی/ شاہزادی‘‘ ہے نہ ’’صاحب زادی‘‘، کیونکہ وہاں مذکر مؤنث کا جھگڑا نہیں۔ لہٰذا فارسی میں بادشاہ کی بیٹی کو بھی’’شاہزادہ/شہزادہ‘‘ کہتے ہیں، اور اولاد کے لئے ’’صاحب زادہ‘‘ بلا تخصیص جنس مستعمل ہے۔
