- ۔مثل۔ جو دَم بچے وہی غنیمت ہے۔ کہتے ہیں زمانہ سابق میں کسی آدمی کو یہ سزا دی گئی تھی کہ بغل میں سے ایک سنان چبھو کر اس کی گردن میں سے نکالکی گئی۔ وہ تکلیف کے مارے بلک رہا تھا۔ بادشاہ نے اس کی سخت تکلیف کی وجہ سے یہ حکم دیا کہ تلوار سے اُس کی گردن اُڑادو تاکہ تکلیف ظاہر سے چھوٹ جائے۔ اُس وقت اس نیم جاں نے عرض کی کہ تلوار کے نیچے مجھے دم لینے دو یعنی مری گدن نہ اُڑائیے۔ اسی تکلیف میں رہنے دیجئے تاکہ جو دم جی لوں اور دُنیا کی ہوا کھالوں وہیس ہی۔
