- کسی غیر معمولی طریقے سے کسی کی موت واقع ہو جانے پر جب پولیس کسی دوسرے شخص کو مجرم یا شریک جرم نہیں سمجھتی تو صورت حال کے چند گواہوں کے دستخطوں سے ایک تحریر مکمل کر کے معاملے کو ختم کر دیتی ہے اور آگے نہیں بڑھاتی ، اس تحریر یا مکمل رپورٹ کو پنچ نامہ کہتے ہیں.
