शाही समय में चार चीज़ों पर (बाग या बगड़ी पर, बच्चों की कमर पर बंधे ताग या सुतली पर, कौड़ी या चूल्हे पर, पूँछी या गाय की पूँछ पर), अर्थात जवान, बच्चे और परिवार और मवेशियों पर जो कर लगता था उसे चौबाछा कहते हैं
