آراضی بمعنی’’زمین، زمینیں‘‘، اصل میں’’اراضی‘‘ ہے، لیکن عام طور سے زبانوں پر الف ممدودہ کے ساتھ ’’آراضی‘‘ ہے۔ شیکسپیئر اور پلیٹس میں’’آراضی‘‘ کا ذکر نہیں، لیکن امیرمینائی نے لکھا ہے کہ لوگ لاعلمی کے سبب ’’اراضی‘‘ کو’’آراضی‘‘ بولتے ہیں۔ دیبی پرشاد سحر بدایونی نے بھی ’’آراضی‘‘ کو صحیح قراردیا ہے۔ یہ باتیں اس بات کاثبوت ہیں کہ لفظ ’’آراضی‘‘ کوئی سو، سوا سو برس سے رائج ہے۔ فی الحال دونوں کو درست ماننا چاہئے۔ اور قوی امکان ہے کہ کچھ دنوں بعد ’’اراضی‘‘ بالکل غلط قرار دیا جائے۔
