وضو دیبی پرشاد سحر بدایونی نے لکھا ہے کہ ’’وضو‘‘ بفتح اول غلط اور بضم اول درست ہے۔ ’’آصفیہ‘‘ میں بھی صرف بضم اول لکھا ہے، اور یہی بات شان الحق حقی نے دہرائی ہے۔ لیکن حقیقت یہ ہے کہ اس لفظ کا تلفظ اول مفتوح کے ساتھ زیادہ رائج ہے۔ ٹامپسن اور پلیٹس نے اول مفتوح اور مضموم دونوں دئے ہیں۔ان کی بات اس طرح بھی ٹھیک ہے کہ عربی میں اول مفتوح اور اول مضموم دونوں ہیں، اگرچہ ان کے معنی مختلف ہیں۔ بہرحال۔ اردو کے لئے اس وقت مرجح تلفظ اول مفتوح سے ہے۔
