تجربہ عربی میں اول مفتوح اور سوم مکسور ہے۔ عربی میں اس کے معنی ہیں ’’آزمائش‘‘، اور فارسی میں اس کے معنی ہیں، ’’آزمائش‘‘، اور ’’کسی کو کچھ سکھانا۔‘‘ اردو میں اس لفظ کوExperiment اور Experience کے معنی میں بولتے ہیں۔’’آزمانا‘‘ کے معنی بھی کبھی کبھی نظر آتے ہیں۔ اردو میں یہ لفظ اول اوردوم مفتوح کے ساتھ بروزن فعولن بولتے ہیں۔ اول مفتوح اور سوم مفتوح بروزن فاعلن بھی اردو میں سنا جاتا ہے۔ دونوں درست ہیں لیکن مع اول دوم مفتوح بروزن فعولن بہتر ہے۔ بعض لوگ اول مفتوح اور دوم مضموم بولتے ہیں۔ اس کی کوئی سند نہیں۔
