شباہت اول مفتوح، اردو میں فقرہ ’’شکل و شباہت‘‘ مستعمل ہے اور دونوں الفاظ کم و بیش ہم معنی سمجھے جاتے ہیں۔ مصحفی ؎ آنے سے خط کے رنگ ہی کچھ اور ہو گیا وہ شکل اس کی اور وہ شباہت کہاں رہی فارسی والوں نے یہ لفظ عربی کے طرز پر بنایا اور’’مشابہت، مانندگی‘‘ اس کے معنی قرار دیے۔ اردو میں بھی یہ معنی مراد لئے گئے، لیکن شاذ۔ کسی بنا پر(شاید ’’شبیہ‘‘ سے اشتقاق کے دھوکے میں) اردو میں’’شکل، صورت‘‘ کے معنی اس لفظ میں پیدا ہوگئے اور اب یہی معنی متداول ہیں۔ اردو کی حد تک یہ لفظ اور یہ معنی بالکل صحیح ہیں۔ البتہ یہ نہ گمان کرنا چاہئے کہ یہ لفظ عربی ہے۔ ’’اردو لغت، تاریخی اصول پر‘‘ سے یہی غلطی ہوگئی ہے۔
