سیکڑا وحید قریشی نے لکھا ہے کہ لفظ ’’سیکڑا‘‘، ’’سے‘‘ (بمعنی سو)، اور’’کڑا‘‘ سے مرکب ہے۔ انھوں نے’’کڑا‘‘ کے معنی نہیں لکھے، لیکن غالباًً یہ’’سخت، لہٰذا پکا‘‘ کے معنی میں ہے، یعنی پورے پورے سو۔ دہلی اورعلاقہ ہائے پورب میں اس کی جمع ’’سینکڑوں‘‘ مع نون غنہ مستعمل ہے۔ اس کا املا بھی الف سے اور ہائے ہوز دونوں سے مروج ہے (یعنی سیکڑا اور سیکڑہ)۔ دیکھئے، ’’سے‘‘۔
