- عیسائیوں کے عقیدے کے مُطابق حضرتِ یعقوب علیہ السّلام کے دور میں ایک شخص لابان تھا جو حضرت یعقوبؑ کو بہت ستاتا تھا خُدا کے فضل سے وہ شخص ایک روز تائب ہوا اور اس نے حضرتِ یعقوبؑ سے وعدہ کیا کہ وہ آئندہ اُنھیں نہیں ستائے گا تو حضرتِ یعقوبؑ نے پتّھروں سے ایک ستون تعمیر کِیا اس کا نام لابان نے رجمِ شہادت رکھا ، لابان سے کہا کہ آئندہ اگر تُو اپنے وعدے سے پھرے گا تو یہ ستون اس کی گواہی دے گا .
