نفس ِرحمانی سے مراد وجودِ اضافی ہے اور وجہ تسمیہ اس کی مناسبت اور تشبیہہ ہے نفس انسانی کے ساتھ کہ منکشر اور مختلف ہے بہ سبب صور حروف کے یہ نفس رحمانی راحت پہنچتا ہے ان اسما کو کہ جو تحت میں اسم رحمن کے ہیں یعنی وجود ان کی راحت ہے کیونکہ عدم ظہور کی وجہ سے معدوم تھے اور باعث کرب تھا ، ہیولیٰ کلیہ (مصباح التعرف) ۔
