خنزیر اس لفظ کے دو معنی ہیں۔(۱) ’’خوک، سور‘‘ (۲) ’’کنٹھ مالا‘‘ ایک بیماری ہے (انگریزی میں(Scrofula جس میں گردن میں پھوڑے نکلتے ہیں۔ اس کے ہر پھوڑے کو ’’خنزیر‘‘، اور بیماری کو’’خنازیر‘‘ کہا جاتا ہے۔ اول مکسور، یائے معروف کے ساتھ لفظ ’’خنزیر‘‘ ہمیشہ مذکر ہے، اس کا مؤنث کچھ نہیں۔ دیکھئے، ’’تانیث سے عاری نام، جانوروں کے‘‘۔
