- (لسانیات) ایک ہندی پراکرت زبان کا رسم الخط جس کے لغوی معنی ’’ہونٹوں سے نکال ہوا‘‘ ہیں ، بعض لوگ اس خط کو اس کے موجد کھروشٹھا کے نام سے موسوم سمجتے ہیں جس کے معنی گدھے کےہونٹ والا کھر (خر) اوشٹھا ، ہوںٹ کے ہیں ، قرین قیاس یہ ہے کہ اس لفظ کا ماخذ آرامی کھروٹھا ہے جو سنسکرت کھروشٹھا ہو گیا تھا.
