- ऐसी चीज की बनावट या रचना का ढंग अथवा प्रकार जिसमें प्रायः फालतू अंश काट या छाँटकर अलग किये जाते हों अथवा आवश्यक तथा उपयोगी अंश बचा लिये जाते हों। जैसे-कमीज, कुरते या मति को काट-छाँट।
- काटने और काटकर छाँटने या निकालने को क्रिया, भाव या ढंग। जैसे-(क) पुस्तक, मसौदे या लेख में होनेवाली काट-छाँट। (ख) हिसाब की काट छाँट।
- काटने और छाँटने की क्रिया या ढंग; कतर-ब्योंत
- किसी चीज़ के निर्माण का वह तरीका जिसमें अनावश्यक अंश काट या छाँट कर अलग कर लिए जाते हों तथा आवश्यक अंश को रख लिया जाता हो।
