- सुनने की शक्ति से वंचित कर देना, कठोर दण्ड देना, प्राचीन भारत में एक दण्ड था, जब कोई अछूत वेद के शब्दों को भूले से भी सुन लेता था तो उसके कानों में सीसा पिघला कर डाल दिया जाता था, यह दण्ड उच्च जाति के हिंदू अर्थात् ब्रहमन देते थे
