ایک زہریلا جو بینگن کے پودے کے برابر یا اس سے بڑا ہوتا ہے ، اس کے پتّے بھی بینگن کے پتّوں سے مشابہ ہوتے ہیں ؛ سفید اور نیلگوں دو قسم کا ہوتا ہے ؛ اس کا پھل خاردار اور اخروٹ سے بڑا ہوتا ہے جس میں دانۂ سماق سے مِلتے جُلتے تُخم بھرے ہوتے ہیں . اس کے تخم اور پتّے زیادہ تر دوا کے طور پر مستعمل ہوتے ہیں . دھتورے کے بیج زہریلی مقدار میں کھلائے جائیں تو مسموم کے حواس پراگندہ ہو جاتے ہیں اور عقل زائل ہو جاتی ہے. کبھی اس کو وہمی چیزیں نظر آتی ہیں جنہیں یہ پکڑنے کی کوشش کرتا ہے. ایک دو روز یہ حالت رہ کر زہریلی تاثیر ہو جاتی ہے ، لیکن گاہے غفلت طاری ہوجاتی ہے اور تَنفّس و قلب کی حرکتیں بند ہوکر مسموم ہلاک ہوجاتا ہے ، جوز ماتل . تاتورہ .
