اقلیت اصل میں اول دوم مفتوح، سوم مکسور اور یائے مشدد (یعنی بر وزن فعلاتن) ہے۔ اردو میں بہ تخفیف یا (یعنی بروزن فعلتن ) بولتے ہیں اور یہی تلفظ فصیح ہے۔ ہاں حالت جمع میں (اقلیتیں، اقلیتوں) اور یائے صفت کے ساتھ (اقلیتی) دوم ساکن بولاجانے لگا ہے اور اسی کو درست ٹھہرانا چاہئے۔ ہاں تنہا لفظ کو بسکون دوم بولنے کا کوئی جواز نہیں۔ یہ لفظ نسبۃً نیا ہے، ’’آصفیہ‘‘ اور’’نور‘‘ میں درج نہیں۔
