- وہ الف جو دو مکرریا مختلف کلموں کو ملانے کے لیے لایا جاتا ہے ، الف اتصال ، جیسے : شبا شب ، شہاروز ، وغیرہ .
- وہ الف جو لفظ کے شروع میں تسہیل کے لیے لگایا جانا یا شروع سے کرایا جاتا ہے . جیسے : سکول ، اسکول ؛ دھیلا، ادھیلا؛ سپند ، اسپند؛ ناج ، اناج ، سپید و شکم ، دو لغت جامد ہیں ، ان پر الف وصل لاتے ہیں شاہو عکس یعنی اشکم و اسپید کو لغت اصلی اور شکم و سپید کو مخفف کہو .
- وہ متحرک الف جو عبارت یا شعر میں کسی لفظ آخر الساکن کے بعد آئے .
